Special Educational Needs
Definition
Pupils are deemed to have Special Educational Needs (SEND) when they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her.
A child of compulsory school age has a learning difficulty or disability if he or she:
> Has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or
> Has a disability which prevents or hinders him or her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools
The Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Rachel Tichband.
Cold Ash St Mark's is an inclusive school and all teachers:
Do everything they can to meet pupils’ special educational needs.
Ensure that pupils with SEND engage in activities alongside their peers
Provide high-quality teaching, differentiated for individual pupils

West Berkshire Local Offer provides information to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities, aged 0 – 25, to help them to understand what services and support, they and their families can expect from a range of local agencies within the local authority.
Parental Support
West Berkshire Parent Carer Forum are a group of parents and carers who have children with special educational needs who come together as a collective to try and improve local services. They can also support parents in having their voices heard.

Emotional Health Triage The Emotional Health Triage is a free service open to children and young people in West Berkshire who need support with emotional health difficulties. It is the gateway to many different early support options. Referrals are usually made by family members, schools or GPs. Young people are also able to self-refer to the EHT for support.
